Alfred Gareau, age 55, was living in Escanaba, MI, was was working asa farmer. The household included his wife Vitaline (54) and his children Omar (29), who also worked as a farmer, Leo (23), Leah (21), who worked as a teacher at the District School, Rosie (20), and Dorena (16, misspelled "Delina" in this census). Although the family's primary language was French, they could all, with the exception of Vitaline, speak English as well.
